Brave Bear was the first structure to be completed and rightfully so. The “first” of most things feels very much like a foundation. If the first cottage would be somewhat of a foundation for all the others then the life and testimony of the donor's wife seemed fitting. Bernadine was her name. And Brave Bear was her endeared nickname. She loved the Lord faithfully until the very end. She stood strong on the His Word. She devoted her life to her family. She was brave. She was a Mama Bear. The legacy Bernadine left will be a constant reminder each time we step foot into the first cottage built on Sanctuary Hills. When our guests come and leave, may they also find a sense of courage and fortitude to stay true to the fight just like Mrs. Bernadine did until her last breath here on earth.
